Are you placing your trust in the right dentist? One of the biggest choices regarding our oral health is the person who we choose to be our regular doctor; an inexperienced person, or even worse; an unethical practitioner could put your health and even your life at risk. In Dental Solutions we are proud to have some of the most experienced professionals amongst our crew; a family of experts who cares deeply for our patients and who takes their practice with the seriousness it demands; we want to be the best choice for you and for your loved ones.

So, what should you look for in a new dentist? here is a quick guide of how to tell who is a professional and who is a quack.

If it sounds too good to be true it probably is

Some people will do just about anything for money, even make promises that they can´t possibly keep. Dental work is a specialized field which sometimes can be quite expensive; if someone gives you a price that is well below what other professionals offer, you should be cautious, they might be using low quality materials or there might be hidden costs they aren´t telling you about. If a deal sounds way too good, be thorough with your questions; who are they buying their materials from? Is everything included in the bill? What´s their policy when a procedure doesn´t go according plan? Best to be careful than to suffer a calamity.

Reputation is everything in the business

Word of mouth goes a long way, you will hear nothing but good praise from a good dentist; fortunately, the internet makes things very easy; Google your future dentist´s name, check their webpage for testimonials. Talk with people who have been treated by your potential dentist in the past, a patient is the best judge of someone´s expertise.

Age has nothing to do with expertise

It makes perfect sense to look for a seasoned veteran right? Well think again, experience isn´t everything, and old dentist might not have kept up with the most recent scientific developments and techniques, while a young dentist is eager to learn and to prove themselves. A young dentist can be as great as an experienced one.

A dentist isn´t good at everything

A good dentist will outright tell you what´s their specialty, and what they can and can´t do, if a dentist says they can do anything, they are outright lying, or worse, they don´t know the extent of their capabilities, it better to look elsewhere.
