No one can argue that dental implants have been increasing in popularity for the last few years, ever since the discovery in the 1950s that bone and titanium merge in a process known as bone fusing, medical procedures have been developed to take advantage of this biological perk, one of the most common one being implants.

Implants are foreign objects inserted into a specific body part to enhance, repair or reinforce the area, in the case of oral hygiene; one of the most common uses is to create a foundation to affix permanent dentures. Truth be told, a few decades ago, dental implants were everything but pleasant, the procedure was intense, and to be quite honest, the end result was less than appealing. But as time has passed the process has evolved, costs have been reduced and the final result looks and feels amazing.

There are many reason nowadays why Implants are such a good idea, being one of the biggest, their longevity, with the right care an implant can last from 25 years up to a lifetime, there are very few side-effects, and in fact, they prevent bone loss and infections common with removable dentures. As more people get dental implants we are seeing more success stories out there, you probably already know at least one person who has gotten some form of implant of dental implant, and you may not even be aware of the fact!.

Another reason for the rise in popularity is the huge amount of exposition they are getting on the internet, with professionals sharing their knowledge and testimonials all over the place, any interested party has enough information at their disposal to make a conscious decision, dispelling myths and misinformation. For example, people used to think that an implant was a painful process that took several visits to the dentist, in truth, state-of-the-art methodologies such as the All-on-4 are very quick, affordable and painless, with a single procedure a patient can get a full set of teeth in less than a day.

Adding to that, implants do not affect your quality of life at all, remember how I told that you probably already know someone with implants and you aren’t aware?, that’s because having dental implants does not change the way you live your life, you can eat and drink whatever you want, and whenever you want it, your smile will look natural, and the only thing you have to do, is floss and brush after every meal, just like what you need to do with your natural teeth, it’s no wonder people are getting so excited about dental implants as a solution that could improve their lifestyle and their health.
