In your first appointment at our dental center in Mexico, the dentist will perform a detailed evaluation with X-rays or a CT Scan to have an accurate diagnosis of your case and determine if you are eligible for this All-On-6.
During this first visit, the doctor will also tell you if any procedure is needed, like teeth cleaning, a bone graft, sinus lift, or extractions before placing the implants. These are important procedures that guarantee a successful treatment, and it can take a few months of recovery until your mouth is completely ready to receive each dental implant.
Once all surgical procedures are done and the healing time has passed, you are ready to start your All-on-6 dental implant journey. For this process, the doctor will use sedation to make sure you are completely comfortable. The procedure will be done using local anesthesia, but as the surgery can take some time, IV sedation will be used in some cases.
You can agree with your doctor about the use of IV sedation or any other type of anesthesia before starting the process
The dentist will make incisions and insert the 6 implants per jaw into the bone, in case you are having a full mouth restoration. If not, it will place only 6 in just one arch. When this step is done and all implants are in place, the dentist will give you a temporary removable denture until the osseointegration of dental implants and complete retention of the prosthesis are ensured.
Also, you will have specific instructions for aftercare, hygiene, recovery, and rehabilitation that you need to follow at all times to avoid implant failure. If you feel any sort of discomfort, pain, or are concerned about anything, reach out to your doctor immediately to have assistance.
The final step will be setting up the permanent dental bridge. On your next visit to our clinic, the dentist will change the temporary removable denture for a permanent dental bridge with dental crowns made of porcelain or zirconia that will match your natural teeth.
Your dental bridge will be custom-made using the material and color that your dentist and you have agreed to use for the dental crowns
After this last step, you just need to brush, floss, and take care of your new permanent set of teeth as you would do with your regular ones to have a healthy new smile.
Is it necessary to have bone grafting surgery before the All-On-6 dental implants?
To be eligible for this treatment, the candidates need to have enough bone density, which is necessary to place the six dental implants successfully. It is important to know that after tooth loss due to extractions or other reasons, the jawbone starts to lose its density; the long-term use of removable dentures and even dental bridges can increase the damage to the jawbone.
In cases where the bone structure of the patient has suffered damage, it is possible to have a bone graft surgery, and through this dental work, the dentist can make sure that there is sufficient space to place all six dental implants perfectly. Even though bone grafting can extend the treatment period, the results are completely worth it since you can restore your smile with materials that look and feel natural.
During your first consultation at our clinic, your dentist will check the state of your bone by taking some X Rays to determine if you will need bone graft surgery. If your bone structure is in good condition, you will be able to have the All-on-6 implants without any prerequisite procedures.
